# ¿Landing page or website? Check this out before you ask a developer Published: Apr 14, 2026 URL: https://crony.cl/logs/landing-page-o-sitio-web-revisa-esto-antes-de-hablar-con-un-desarrollador --- Asking for a landing page when you actually need a full website can cost you time and $$$. That's why I'm breaking down how to know which one you need, before you ask either one to a developer. To start, it's always helpful to put yourself in the shoes of the people who will be visiting your content and ask: what's the purpose? What do I want to achieve? Imagine someone is visiting your URL for the first time: what actions would you like them to take, and why? Landing Page A landing page is what you need when you want a single page to communicate one specific goal: getting the user to do something concrete, like signing up for an event, submitting their information, downloading a brochure, or learning about a promotion. The user stays on the same URL the entire time, no redirects, no distractions. Everything is designed to convert visitors into potential customers. If someone lands on a page, sees concise information, maybe a few buttons, and clicking them gently scrolls them down to a different section of the same page, that's a landing page. Website A website, on the other hand, contains much more information, with multiple internal pages and many different paths for users to take. It could even include several landing pages within it. For example, it might have a page about the company, another showcasing its products (with a dedicated landing page for a specific campaign), a portfolio, a separate contact form page, and countless other options. Think of a website like a book where people can jump between different chapters. So, which one do you actually need? Well, ask yourself these questions: Do I have a single product or one clear action I want my users to take? → Landing page Do I need to show who I am, how to contact me, and all the products I offer? → Website Is this a one-time ad campaign with an end date? → Landing page Do I want to showcase all the different campaigns I've run, without endless scrolling? → Website Knowing these differences can help you make a smarter choice. And remember, if you still have questions, I'm available to help guide you.
